Raipur: Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s (SKM) call for a Bharat Bandh on Monday, to mark the first anniversary of the three controversial farm laws getting Presidential assent, has gathered support from all sections of the society, including political parties. The joint forum of the trade union took out a torch rally in Raipur on Saturday night in support of this. Now the state Congress has also supported this strike.

Leaders of the ruling Congress, including MLAs and workers, have come out on the streets at many places in Raipur and are appealing to people to express solidarity with farmers. State Congress Communication Department President Shailesh Nitin Trivedi and the party workers will visit Donde Khurd village in Raipur district to support the farmers’ agitation, a party spokesperson said.

It is expected that public transport will be off the roads in Raipur as the autorickshaw union has supported the bandh. Police personnel will be deployed in various parts of the city and on main roads to avoid any untoward incidents. Emergency services like hospitals, ambulances, fire- brigade, and medicine shops have been exempted.

On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Federation is busy preparing for Kisan Mahapanchayat on September 28th. This mahapanchayat is to be held in the agricultural produce market premises of Rajim.
