Chhattisgarh: A 17-year-old girl was raped at a government-funded residential training centre for children with disabilities in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district by a caretaker (33) earlier this week, police said on Friday after arresting the staff and the security guard (33) at the facility.

The accused is booked under sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354 (molestation) of the IPC and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girls have been sent for medical examination by the police after registering the FIR. One girl was allegedly raped, 5 more girls were molested at a training centre for the disabled sources confirmed.

Jashpur Superintendent of Police Vijay Aggarwal reported that the incident took place on September 22nd at the residential training center of ‘Divyangs’ and the police swung into action after receiving information in this regard on Thursday night. Jashpur Additional SP Pratibha Pandey has confirmed the lodging of an FIR against the accused and stated interrogation of the security guard and the caretaker of the centre were conducted.
