Afghanistan: Due to ‘girls dancing’, female audiences, and fans in UAE stadiums, the Taliban have banned the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 from being broadcasted in Afghanistan.
Taliban have warned that Afghan media outlets should not broadcast the Indian Cricket League due to girls dancing and the presence of the female audience and spectators in stadiums.
Earlier on Monday, a group of protestors stormed the ACB office and ordered that the current CEO, Hamid Shinwari, be replaced. Following which Shinwari has been replaced by Naseebullah Khan, as the new CEO.
Changes in the team structure have also occurred in Afghanistan cricket. Rashid Khan, who was appointed as Afghanistan captain for the T20 World Cup, has resigned after failing to make the final selection meeting for the tournament.
Furthermore, if women are not allowed to play cricket in Afghanistan, Cricket Australia (CA) has threatened to cancel the one-off Test scheduled for November.
IPL 2021 season began on September 19th in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The knockout stage will begin on October 10th, with the final scheduled for October 15th.
