Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra was released from Arthur Road Jail today at 11:30  after he was granted bail in the pornography case on Monday.  Kundra was granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000 by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale.

Kundra’s associate and co-accused Ryan Thopre was also granted bail on Monday in the case pertaining to the alleged creation of vulgar films and publishing them through certain apps. On Saturday Kundra had moved a bail plea to the Metropolitan Magistrate days after which the police had filed a supplementary charge sheet against him. The plea filed by his advocate Prashan Patil stated that he (Kundra) was not even an iota of evidence to date with the prosecution that would connect the app “Hotshots’ used in the alleged porn films racket, with an offence under law. Kundra alleged that he was falsely implicated and was not even named in the FIR and was dragged by the police.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Son Viaan Raj Kundra posted a picture of Ganapathi celebrations at their house earlier this month. The picture features Viaan posing with mum Shilpa and little sister Samisha in front of a large Ganesh idol. The three donned floral ethnic dresses. “Life as Long as Lord Ganesha’s trunk, troubles as small as his mouse, Moments as sweet as Modak, Ganapati Bappa Morya!!” – the post read.

Kundra was arrested on July 19 by the Mumbai crime branch after being booked under relevant section of the IPC, IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women Act.
