Mumbai: Kirit Somaiya, a representative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was caught at a railway station on Sunday while attempting to reach a restricted location. He was led out of the Karad Railway Station by police officers and his security people, according to a video that went viral on social media.

He was apprehended while attempting to go to Kolhapur, where the district administration had imposed Section 144 and issued prohibitory orders against him. He slammed the Maharashtra government and demanded to know who issued the orders prohibiting him from leaving Mumbai.

Mr Somaiya asked when he was en route to Kolhapur, “The Thackeray government said you cannot go out of Mumbai. Who gave this order?”

The BJP leader’s admittance has been prohibited by the Kolhapur district administration. Today was Somaiya’s scheduled visit to Kolhapur. He intended to go to Maharashtra minister Hasan Mushrif’s properties, where he claimed corruption had occurred.

Yesterday, Somaiya had tweeted: “Thackeray Sarkar Dadagiri, Notice is for Kolhapur District NO ENTRY, but not allowing Me to move out from My House. Not allowed to go for Ganesh Visarjan. Mulund Police want to ARREST Me, but No Warrant, No Order…it’s totally illegal.” Somaiya had previously accused Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Anil Parab of money laundering.
