Delhi: Amidst panic over a possibility of community transmission of COVID-19, it has come to light that Ace boxer and Rajya Sabha Member Mary Kom broke the 14 days self isolation protocol that was imposed by World Health Organisation in the wake of Global crisis across all over the world.
Mary Kom who had competed in Asia-Oceania qualifier in Amman & Jordan, had returned home on 13th March and was supposed to undergo self quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days.
However, On 18th March, she attended the breakfast session held at Rashtrapati bhawan hosted by president Ram Nath Kovind.
On the same day, BJP lawmaker Dushyant Singh, was also there at the President’s House. He came in contact with infected bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor , is now in self-quarantine.
Mary Kom has, also admitted that she attended the President’s event. In a statement released, she said: “I am home since I came back from Jordan. I only attended the President’s event and did not meet Dushyant or shake hands with. My quarantine after Jordan ends but I’m going to be at home only for the next 3-4 days.”
