New Delhi: In a high-level inter-government dialogue with Russia Wednesday, the Government of India highlighted Pakistan’s ISI links with India focused terror groups in Afghanistan, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Sources reveal that the dialogue also stressed Islamabad’s ties with the Taliban and other international terror groups. The meeting saw substance exchanges, with both sides expressing similar views on most of the issues.
India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval has told his counterpart Nikolay Patrushev that Pakistan has the ‘special responsibility of ensuring that Afghanistan’s soil was not used to spread terrorism and carry out anti-India activities.
Meanwhile, the Taliban has introduced several conditions to restrict protests in Afghanistan after forming a new government in the country. These conditions include taking permission from the Ministry of Justice while deciding on any protest, and conferring the details to the security agencies 24-hour prior to the protest. The Taliban government added that consequences may follow for those who protest without approval from the Ministry.
According to Russia, there are two important aspects; humanitarian and migration problems in Afghanistan. An official Russian statement said that “in addition, they need to coordinate the approaches of Russia and India in multilateral formats on Afghanistan settlement”.
The meeting on Afghanistan took place a day ahead of the BRICS summit, wherein Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will highlight concerns on terrorism.
