New Delhi: India reported 42,618 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. This took the cumulative confirmed count to 32,903,289, reported Health Ministry.

The recovery rate at 97.20 per cent accounted for 45,254 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 2,99,33,538. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.50 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 4,05,681 accounting for 1.23 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 5,903 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 330 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,40,225.

 As Kerala, continued to record surge, the State Supreme Court on Friday stayed the decision to hold offline exams for Class 11. Saying, “Children of tender age can’t be exposed to the risk of contracting virus,” the apex court issued an order to pause the exams.  In the last 24 hours, the state reported 29,322 fresh infections along with 131 deaths.

India administered over 67 crore COVID-19 vaccines to its citizens under the nationwide vaccination drive. In the last 24 hours, 58,85,687 beneficiaries were vaccinated.  As per ICMR, 17,04,970 infected samples were tested in the last 24 hours.  So far 52,82,40,038 infected samples have been tested by the top research body.
