The wrestler turned Javelin Thrower Sumit Antil surely drew inspiration from our Olympics Gold medal winner Neeraj Chopra as he set a new world record with his throw at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 to win another gold medal for the country. Yes! It’s the second Gold medal of the day after Avani Lekhara also won a gold medal in the shooting event and became India’s first woman gold medalist in the Paralympics game format.

Though congratulations from all corners of the country have been pouring in for Sumit Antil, for his superb gold medal-winning record at the Tokyo Paralympics, the tweet by PM Narendra Modi is surely special for the young javelin thrower. PM Modi took to his Twitter to congratulate Sumit and wrote, “Our athletes continue to shine at the #Paralympics! The nation is proud of Sumit Antil’s record-breaking performance in the Paralympics. Congratulations Sumit for winning the prestigious Gold medal. Wishing you all the best for the future”.

Sumit has managed to break his own world record of a 66.95 throw at the event. With this medal, India has a total of 7 Paralympic medals in its kitty now. As more matches are yet to occur, hopes are high to get the maximum medals from the 54 para-athletes contingent this year. All hail Sumit Antil!
