A 37-year-old man went to take a bath in a river in the Guna district area of MP. Soon after he started bathing, he could not control himself amidst the strong river current and started drowning. The locals of the area tried to save him but they failed. He died by drowning in the river. But the villagers of nearby village Jogipura believed him to be alive and took him out of the water only to hang him in a tree, upside down. 

A police officer from Sanai police station revealed that the locals were inclined to save him thinking he was alive. And thus they hanged him in a tree in an upside-down position to resuscitate him. A video of the incident went viral where villagers can be seen raising religious slogans and hanging him with a rope for a longer time period. Later, the local police convinced the villagers that he was dead and brought him down.

The victim, a 37-year-old man has been identified as a local youth from Bansaheda village located nearby Jogipura. The body of the man has been sent for post mortem by the local police of Guna, MP. Further investigation about establishing the identity of the man is on. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon.
