Chhattisgarh: The Sukma district police achieved a breakthrough as it succeeded in nabbing the Naxalite who was charged with the kidnapping of Collector Alex Paul Menon in the year 2012

Identified as Rava Ganga, the Naxalite was arrested under the Poona Narkom operation initiated by the district police. As a part of the operation, the police officials had engaged its troops in the Badasti area during which Rava Ganga was nabbed. 

It is reported that the Maoist carried an award of Rs 1 lakh. Briefing the local reporters, SP Sukma Sunil Sharma confirmed the arrest. 

It should be noted that Rava was involved in the kidnapping of then Collector of Sukma IAS Alex Paul Menon. The Naxal cadre had also killed two SPOs of the collector during the attack and arrest. 

In recent attacks aimed by the Maoists on Friday, two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), including an assistant commissioner were killed in the Narayanpur district. Following which the Naxals looted and escaped with one AK-47 rifle, two bulletproof jackets and one wireless set of the security personnel sources reported. 

In another incident on Thursday, Naxalite Ramesh Gupta alias Azad who was carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakh was arrested by the Jharkhand police. Acting on specific inputs, officials nabbed the Naxalite who was involved in the killings of more than 30 police personnel in the last 20-30 years.
