New Delhi: India recorded 36, 401 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.53 per cent accounted for 39,157 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,15, 25,080. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.94 per cent, less than 3 per cent for the 24th  consecutive day.

The active caseload stands at 3,64,129 accounting for 1.13per cent of the total number of cases. Active cases reported a decline by 3,286  in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 530 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,33,049.

With 21,427 fresh cases, Kerala continues to be the state with the most number of daily Covid cases. It reported 179 deaths.

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and  Jharkhand  reported zero COVID deaths. Assam leads the north-eastern states recording 639 cases. 

Over 56. 64 crore beneficiaries have been immunized against the novel virus. India achieved the milestone of conducting  screening of  50 crore infected samples  across the country, the Indian Council of Medical Research [ICMR] informed today.
