Raipur: The Chhattisgarh capital reported 23 new cases of dengue infection in the last 24 hours breaching the 150 mark, health ministry reported on Monday. The state has been reeling under a spurt in dengue cases in recent times.
Among the districts of the state Ramnagar, Ramkund and Tikarpara have reported dengue cases.
So far nearly 173 patients have been reported from the state. Amongst these BSF camp personnel have also been reportedly infected. More than 24 patients are recovering treatment in private hospitals while 1 is being treated in the government hospital.
The State Health Department has informed us to conduct intensive screening across districts.
Dengue amid COVID-19 has aroused a challenge for health officials to strike a balance. State administration is asserting stringent screening and disinfection across the state to curb infections.
Dengue is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito that breeds in still water and hence prevails in monsoon session. Sharing clinical features with COVID-19, dengue becomes difficult to differentiate.
