New Delhi: The highly demanded MBBS seats across the nation are well reserved for the meritorious lots who have to crack the All India entrance test for the same. But the ones who cannot pass these tests, look for some other options. And one of the most popular ways to get such admissions is through several agencies that charge you hefty amounts to get you a seat in the private medical colleges across the country. When the son of a Delhi based doctor could not secure a rank in the NEET exam, he also sought such an admission procedure and thereby contacted Naveen Kumar, the accused for help.
Naveen, who introduced himself as an MBBS doctor and ex-senior officer at the health ministry, charges a whopping 17 lakhs from the victim assuring him of a medical seat in one of the prestigious medical colleges. The incident took place in the year 2015 and so, no proper records of the call between both the parties could be found except for the mobile number which was used for communication. When Naveen could not find him a seat in a medical college, the victim asked him for his money back. But with time he only returned around 7.92 lakhs and that’s when he filed a complaint against him.
After searching for years for him, Delhi police finally located his number in Kolkata’s salt lake area and kept a close look at his rented apartment. Finally, they comprehended him on Aug 5 and thereon taken into custody. During his interrogation, he revealed that he dropped out of his MD course midday and has been running a pathology lab in Kolkata which is named Apollo diagnostics centre since 2015. Further investigations are on to nab the involvement of others in the group.
