Mumbai: A Magistrate Court in Mumbai rejected the bail plea of businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actor Shilpa Shetty on Wednesday. Kundra is supposedly the ‘key conspirator’ in the alleged creation of pornographic films and publishing them.

Kundra had submitted a petition in the court challenging his illegal arrest in the case. In response to this, Justice AS Gadkari directed the police to file its affidavit by July 29. Sources reveal that no clean chit has been given to actor Shilpa Shetty in the case.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court granted anticipatory bail to model-actors; Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra. The Court also stated that no coercive action shall be taken against the duo till 20 September, 2021.

Kundra was sent to the police on July 20. The Mumbai Magistrate Court has extended his custody till July 27. While police claim to have sufficient evidence against him, Kundra denies any wrongdoing. His lawyer told the Court that, “Police are following what web series are doing these days – vulgar content. But that’s not really classified as porn. Nothing in this remand shows that two people actually indulged in an act of intercourse. If it’s not actual intercourse, it’s not classified as porn”.
