India recorded 39,097 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.The recovery rate at 97.35 percent accounted for 35,087 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,05,03,166. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.40 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 33 consecutive days.

The active caseload stands at 4,08,977 accounting for 1.31 per cent of the total number of cases. 3,464 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 546 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,200,16.

Dr Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Chief in a news media briefing today said,” children in India can get vaccinated by September.”  Citing the emerging mutations, he also stressed over booster dose with second generation COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Parliament on Friday cited a study conducted by ICMR that stated   coronavirus could be detected up to 10 feet or 3.048 metres in the air around an infected individual. 

Over 42.78 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, the health ministry said. 42,67,799 beneficiaries have been immunized in the past 24 hours.

 The testing capacity substantially ramped up after ICMR tested 16,31,266 infected samples in the past 24 hours. So far, 45.45 crore samples have been tested across the nation.
