Sukma: Naxalites in Chhattisgarh released seven villagers they had abducted in Sukma, along with the 24 men who were held hostage whilst they searched for peers. Sources reveal the Naxalites had held the civilians for nearly three days.

On being informed by the Sukma Police on Monday, police officials were deployed for the search of  missing villagers. Investigations revealed that the seven young civilians were dragged into the forest area of Kunded village in Jagran Gonda region by the Naxalite on Saturday.  The villagers informed the police on Monday fearing retaliation by the Naxalites. 

Sukma SP Sunil Sharma informed that  the seven young lads and 24 men returned home on Tuesday night. Ramdev Baghel, president of the youth cell of Sarva Adivasi Samaj  confirmed the news.

Chhattisgarh in 2020 reported 315 cases of  Naxal violence and death of nearly 36 security personnel. In 2020, nearly 665 Naxal violence cases were reported across the state. A total of 103 Left Wing Extremists were killed and 1,110 were arrested during 2020.
