New Delhi: India continued to record the declining trend, as 1.32 lakh cases were registered in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said this morning. So far 2.85 crore Indians have contracted the virus since the outbreak. The MoHFW reported 2,07,071  recuperations in a single day that took the total recuperations to 2.65 crores.  However, the death rate continued to observe a growing curve adding another 2,713 mortalities. 

The number of active cases has reduced to 16,35,993  accounting for 6.38 percent of the total number of cases, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 93.08 percent.

 With the addition of 15,229 coronavirus cases, the infection count in Maharashtra rose to over 57.91 lakh. After Maharashtra, the southern belt of the country has developed as the new hotspot. 

In view of cases rising to 18,324, Karnataka extended the lockdown until 14 June morning. Simultaneously, Kerala also saw a worrying rise in daily COVID-19 cases registering  18,853 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.  The death count rose to 9,375 with 153 more deaths. Neighbouring Tamil Nadu saw a slide in daily Covid case counts for the 13th straight day, with 24,405 new infections and 460 deaths.  Delhi recorded 487 fresh Covid cases, the lowest in over two-and-a-half months and 45 deaths on Thursday.

On the vaccination front, 22.41 crore vaccine doses are administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
