Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has harshly criticized the Congress, accusing it of creating an artificial image of large crowds around the opposition grouping INDIA at their protest meeting at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.
Sharing the image on X, Rijiju alleged that it was all AI images used by Congress to show the venue was overflowing with supporters. Prior to this several party leaders including Congress MP Vamsi Gaddam had floated the image.
Even when they try to fabricate a fake AI photo claiming that Ramlila ground was packed is not correctly done by the fake narrative team of Congress Party!” Kiren Rijiju wrote it while sharing out the picture.
Image Shared by Several Congress Leaders
Congress supporters’ activists also shared the same picture on their social media. Former Congress Working Committee member Jagdish Thakor too posted it on his social media page.
The picture then became the target of several users who were already on the X verification platform who felt that it had been created by artificial intelligence. It had what seemed like computer-generated images of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi atop the rally stage.
The users also noted that the image of the stage was different from that in the video of the same location, Ramlila Maidan.
Controversy Surrounds Opposition Rally
The controversy has also thrown a spanner into the works for this coming Sunday’s talks of the INDIA bloc. Rijiju’s comment referred to the authenticity of the picture going viral, saying that Congress was trying to give a false impression of attendance.
However, the claim about where the image is coming from isn’t necessarily taken as accurate by Rijiju or the social media users.
