The landscape for the ICCs T20 Wc 2028 has begun to take shape. Melbourne Cricket Ground is set to stage the finale of the high stakes 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as per reports. It is likely, that Perth would host one semifinal, with the other being played in New Zealand.
While exact stadium allocations remain pending ICC confirmation, major metropolitan hubs, Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington, are the primary candidates to host the fixture

However, official statements for fixtures are yet awaited.

The MCG would be hosting a T20 World Cup final for the second time. It staged the 2022 title clash, in which England beat Pakistan. With a capacity of around 100,000, the ground is also reportedly in line to be the venue again.

The ground holds an unequaled historical portfolio, having previously hosted the 1992 and 2015 Men’s ODI World Cup finals as well as the landmark 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup final.

Adelaide Oval, meanwhile, has reportedly missed out on both the final and a semifinal.

For India, the Perth link matters. If India reach the semifinals, they could play their knockout match there, depending on the final fixture allocation. Perth’s time zone is considered more convenient for Indian television audiences than several other Australian venues.

The tournament will run from October 12 to November 12, 2028, with Australia expected to use five venues: Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. It features 20 teams and 55 matches, including 40 group stage games and 12 Super 8 fixtures. The ICC has also added two eliminators ahead of the semifinals.

The final list of venues was due to be announced by the end of 2026.
