Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Saturday reiterated the need to build unity and collective development as there is no United Nation approach to achieve peace, integrity and economic development in the state within the framework of community-based programmes and ideas. While addressing the National Unity Day event, he highlighted that a State should not be run for the benefit of any one community.

The Chief Minister’s words were addressed during Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31, 2022, in commemoration of the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

In his messages, Singh pointed out the need to build unity among various communities to keep peace and promote overall development of the state. He emphasised that the policy and governance should have a collective agenda rather than focusing on the interests of one community.

Community-driven initiatives, in themselves, will not restore integrity, a peaceful environment or economic development in the state. Singh stated that “one state can never be ruled keeping the interest of one single community in mind.
