Defending 199, India struck the magic number of sixes in the 10th over and annihilated New Zealand to grab an unassailable 3-0 lead in the T20I series. Abhishek Sharma’s classy 113 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s impassioned 45 off 19 quality balls reeled the everyone in stunned silence.

Abhishek and Sooryavanshi Rewrite Records

India raced to 133 in just 7.1 overs before Sooryavanshi became the first wicket to fall. His dismissal made little difference, with India needing only 66 more runs from 77 deliveries at that stage.

Abhishek continued the assault, reaching his century in just 35 balls. He once held a record of 94 off 27 deliveries where he was unbeaten and was on track to beat his own record for the fastest T20I century by a Full Member player.

India also made an impressive 118 runs in the Powerplay phase which held the record of the maximum number of runs scored in the first six innings of a T20 innings.

New Zealand Bowlers Struggle

The Indian bowlers hit back from the very start and Jacob Duffy was dismissed for 26 in the over. In 2.2 overs India scored their half-century and 100 runs were scored within five overs demonstrating an incredible speed on the chase.

India Dominate the Series

India started the performance impressively against the West Indies and have proven they are an aggressive T20 side.

The hosts were left wishing not to have to come up with any ideas to deal with the pestilence that BRC’s explosive play produced, despite the New Zealand series being considered a tough battle.

India put their toe in the water with a 3-0 victory and have made their presence felt in the series.
