The makers of Ramayan released their third song, “Mangalrang,” on Sunday. Sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal and composed by A. R. Rahman, the song depicts the sacred union of Lord Rama and Mata Sita.
However, a scene from the song has caught viewers’ attention, sparking a debate on social media. Many are confused about whether the scene depicts Lord Rama’s haldi ceremony or his coronation.
In the scene, a woman is seen applying haldi to Lord Rama, while Mata Sita stands beside him. The setup has left viewers divided, with some questioning Mata Sita’s presence in what they believe is Rama’s haldi ceremony. Others, however, argue that the scene depicts his coronation rather than a pre-wedding ritual.
One confused user wrote, “Wait, why is Mata Sita attending Ram’s Haldi ceremony when she’s supposed to be his bride? Did the Ramayana team overlook this detail or am I missing something?”
Another user pointed out how Indian customs are followed, writing, “Since when did the bride sit and watch the groom’s Haldi ceremony in traditional Hindu weddings? The groom has his Haldi at his home, and the bride has hers at her own home in many Indian traditions.”
Another user assumed that the ceremony was a coronation event. Standing by their view, the post read, “This is for Ram Ji’s Rajyabhishek Ceremony. I’m sure some dumb people will think why is Sita maa watching his haldi ceremony.”
A user who speculated that the scene may have been filmed in Mithila wrote, “Sita Ram ji got married in Mithila. Only the royal men from Ayodhya went there after receiving the swayamvar news. So if it is a marriage scene, they may both be in Mithila. Or maybe this is not a haldi ceremony at all.”
Whether the scene depicts Lord Rama’s haldi ceremony or his Rajyabhishek will finally be decided on November 5, when the mythological drama hits the silver screens.
