In Uttar Pradesh, it has created a housing model that converts land recovered from the presumed criminal network into the house of those belonging to the economically weak community. In the period since Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assumed office in March 2017, the state has added additional powers aimed at attachment of property, destruction and confiscation of property under the Gangsters Act.

The figure of property related action in Uttar Pradesh has increased from ₹1,800 crore in August 2021 to a total of ₹9,022.33 crore till March 2023, according to the reported figures. It reached ₹11,841 crore in August 2023, ₹14,246 crore by the end of 2024 and ₹15,233 crore by October 2026.

The numbers refer to various legal phases. The attachment process makes property the subject of legal proceedings overnight, destruction actions eliminate illegal constructions, and legal property confiscation proceeds and leads to outright appropriation of the property by government through the required legal process.
