Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has reacted tough to queries between Rahul Gandhi’s overseas visit amid protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Reporters of the Leader of the Opposition’s travel itinerary were told by Tharoor that he was not a “travel agent” and that he would not comment.

Shashi Tharoor was in Kerala when journalists asked him about the four days visit of Gandhi to Vietnam. Explaining his position, he said every person has some responsibilities and said it was not important to discuss the travel plans of another person with him.

The visit has alleging Gandhi has drawn criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has in times demanded “explanations” from him for foreign visits. The party accused the Congress chief of travelling abroad after the protests in the national capital.

On social media, the BJP also posted a video, which it claimed to be of Gandhi, who was on a plane to Vietnam, asking why he traveled abroad.

The BJP chief Sambit Patra shot out a salvo at Gandhi and claimed he went abroad to seek directions from the ‘legion’ headlining by billion dollar investor George Soros on how to achieve regime change in the country. This is how Patra claimed the following:

Pradeep BJP spokesperson Bhandari also raised a doubt about the nature of Gandhi’s visit, what he called his “chaos collaborators”.

The strife has played out in the backdrop of political tensions over protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The BJP have criticized Gandhi for not taking a flight and Tharoor has decided not to comment on his colleague’s travel plans.

The exchange reflects the ongoing political gnawing between Congress and BJP and the issue of Gandhi’s visits abroad has once again been put under scrutiny in the parliament. Competing political allegations have been floated against each other.
