Passengers travelling by bus in Chhattisgarh will now have to pay revised fares after the state government notified new rates for ordinary, deluxe and air-conditioned super luxury bus services. The notification has been notified in the official gazette.

The adjusted fare schedule – which will be adjusted further next week as the ridership recovery phase begins – will set varying rates on different types of bus service, impacting the cost to commuters and other travelers statewide every day.

Here, for the basic bus transportation vehicles, passengers would need to pay ₹10 for the first five kilometres. After that distance, it will charge you ₹1.75 per passenger per kilometre.

Deluxe buses will charge ₹12 for the first 5 kilometres in Chhattisgarh. The remaining pass will then have a ₹2.20/km rate.

There will also be super luxury buses that will charge ₹12 per km for the first five kilometres under air-conditioned. A charge of ₹3.30 per passenger has been levied on each extra kilometre travelled.

The government has also prescribed different rates for AC semi sleeping and sleeping trains. As per the notification, the semi sleeper/first class passengers will be charged at ₹3 per passenger, and sleeper passengers at ₹3.30 per passenger.

Concessions for Eligible Passengers

Ages for concessions for passenger categories are in place along with the fare revision. A fare concession may be given of up to 50% for fares to eligible persons with disability on the basis of the prescribed conditions.

All passengers who qualify for free carriage will continue under the applicable rules to enjoy a 100% exemption from fees.

The modified fares are likely to impact the budgets of users who have to travel by bus frequently for socio-economic activities, including commuting to and from school, to work, and on daily trips.

There is a charge for each type of service, between ordinary, deluxe and air-conditioned, and travellers should need to take into consideration the one service category for which they are travelling when working out the cost of travelling. Concessions are actually intended to be monetary relief for the eligible passengers who really are covered by the government’s provision.
