In a post on X, Rezaei Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) acknowledged that Washington had agreed to some of the conditions outlined by the Islamic Republic, but stressed that its response fell far short of Tehran’s demands as per sources.

“Iranian diplomacy has changed, and there will be no return to the status quo ante,” he declared, signalling a fundamental and permanent shift in how Tehran engages with Washington and insisting on full compliance rather than incremental or half-hearted concessions. In another post, he sharply criticised the US administration’s strategic competence and its role in starting the war.

He stated that US President Donald Trump, “deluded by the fantasy of conquering Iran, launched one of the most idiotic wars in human history after being duped by Netanyahu”.

Rezaei then highlighted what he described as the humiliating reality of the US military’s inability to achieve its objectives on the battlefield, referring to Washington’s recent attempts to bypass Iranian maritime controls.“Now, after the US fleet failed to reopen the Hormuz, he has resorted to smuggling,” Rezaei wrote, adding that “the US military has never sunk to such a disgraceful low!”

Meanwhile, The United Kingdom and Australia condemned attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi Arabia, including strikes on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.

Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia also condemned attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militants on Riyadh’s international airport, saying they were a “dangerous escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext”.

Sending calls for stronger regional security cooperation, an adviser to the UAE president, Anwar Gargash said attacks on Saudi Arabia undermine the security of the UAE and other regional states. Calling for stronger joint regional defense.“We are all targets, and our security is indivisible,” Gargash wrote on X on Monday.

The group of regional powers – dubbed the R4 – reaffirmed their solidarity and support for Saudi Arabia, including full support for all “legitimate measures and steps” it takes to counter the attacks, deter threats and prevent them from happening again.

“The Group holds the Houthi militia fully accountable for the results of these attacks and any repercussions that come with it that threaten regional and international peace and security, and demands the immediate and unconditional halt of these attacks,” they said in a joint statement on Sunday.
