A car plunged into a big roadside tree without braking near Matguwan in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, killing a man, a woman and their two children. The incident had devastating consequences, damaging the vehicle and leaving the occupants entombed inside.

Two people were killed on the scene and the other three were critically injured. The impact of the crash severely damaged the car, making extrication more challenging.

It is only preliminary information that the group had travelled in a car following a road accident by family member in Shahgarh. They were said to have gone to inquire about and help the injured relative when their car got into a crash near Matguwan.

The area around the scene of the accident was soon overrun with onlookers from surrounding neighborhoods. They made a lot of effort to extricate the injured passengers and obtain the corpses of the dead from the wreckage of the car.

When police received information they were called to the accident scene and moved the injured to the nearest health centre where they got immediate medical help. The injured were referred to the district hospital for further treatment as they were in serious condition.

Injured persons are being treated by medical teams, said Dr Rajesh Mishra. The two bodies were given to police and were sent for post mortem exam.

Authorities are also working to establish the identities of the deceased and injured and inform their families. Police is initiating an investigation to figure out what happened leading up to the crash.
