Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday coincided with Wednesday marking the three-year anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks by Hamas, in which at least five men had been killed in the region, according to Palestinian government authorities.

The families, who reported to Gaza that they heard loud noises from a musical festival called Nova, which was bombed three years ago during the Hamas-led attacks in which over 300 people were killed, were recalling the incident.

Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City says two people were killed in an Israeli strike overnight. One of the dead was Mohamed Tamous, who was doing emergency services work for the civil defence agency, which operates under the control of Hamas, Gaza’s civil defence organisation said.

Two members of Hamas who had emerged from Kamal Adwan Hospital, in north Gaza, were killed by the Israeli military, it said. One of them had laid a bomb near what was known as the “Yellow Line,” between the parts under Israeli military and Hamas control, with the aim of attacking Israeli forces, the military said.

It later emerged that one of the two was convicted by the military of being a sniper in Hamas’ military wing and that he had been commissioned to work with the civil defence agency.

Further south at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, it was reported 60-year-old Nasser Hospital patient in Israeli strike, Hisham Ibrahim Abu Mustafa was killed, with several others injured. The hospital has also picked up the dead body of Ziad Zaarab, it said, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Khan Yunis.

A hospital has reported a death in the afternoon as a tent was hit during the Al-Buraq camp. The Israeli military didn’t immediately say any more about the other incidents, saying that the latest attack was aimed at a “military operative”.
