In Aichi-Nagoya, India made more significant gains at the 2026 Asian Games with big medals wins in the archery, shooting, boxing and squash.

Compound Women’s Archery team came up with a solid turnaround to beat China in gold medal match to secure the title of the event for India. With the women’s team continuing its impressive campaign, it was an additional feather in the cap of the Indian contingent in their archery success record.

India later scored the gold in the Compound Mixed Team competition. The event also had importance from a qualification point of view to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 and Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav advanced to the final and countrymen Jitesh Vaisakh and Rahul Tripathi were eliminated from the competition. In the men’s compound shoot-off, India’s men’s team were also in with a medal.

Shooting also made for an enjoyable event as Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai clinched the gold for the Trap Mixed Team. The duo competed in the Asian Games, and in the individual trap Dhanda continued her top flight Asian Games run with another gold medal for India.

Lovlina Borgohain reached the final of the 75kg weight category, having beaten Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova, 3-2 in the semifinal, in the boxing section of the Asian Games. The win guaranteed Lovlina a medal, if not at least a silver. Meanwhile, Priya Ghanghas also had her name in the women’s 60kg semifinal as the Indian boxer was assured of a medal as she made her way to last four.

India also won another medal in the women’s team squash, beating Singapore in a 2-0 victory to qualify for the semifinals. Anahat Singh and Tanvi Khanna were the key contributors for India’s success, and secured 3rd place for the nation.

The Indian team, which continued to compete in judo and women’s hockey, would also get other chances to win medals with the remaining days of the Games.
