Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has given the assurance to the farmers worst hit by heavy rains and floods causing crop damage that their loss and damage will be estimated once the survey is done then the compensation will be provided.
Sai told the media that some areas in the state have an unusual “flood-like” scenario due to heavy rains that have been falling for days that are continuing to roll into Sukma. He was en route to the affected areas to meet with the people and see the losses in their crops and houses, he said.
The Chief Minister told the reporters that they will be evaluating themselves next and get compensation once they have been done.
Several regions in Chhattisgarh region have reported waterlog situations and flood situations including the agricultural fields because of the heavy rains. During last few days, at Patthalgaon, paddy crops were submerged in serious situation due to continuous rain at some places and strong winds had hit standing crops, reports from Jashpur state.
Authorities are still monitoring the effects of the weather and helping those who have been affected by the natural disaster as Saib said she visited Sukma. Crop and property damage assessment will be to assist in determining relief and/or compensation needed for effected families.
The Chief Minister also shared about his soon-to-be plan of follow-up visit to Singapore. He added that state government has been arranging investor meets in India and elsewhere after coming out with its new industrial policy.
As part of these steps for promoting investment in Chhattisgarh, Sai informed his colleagues he would be visiting Singapore from 4th October to 6th October.
The government is considering leveraging the international outreach to advertise the opportunities on investing in the state and to solicit investors. Meanwhile, in the flood hit areas immediate focus is to assess the damage and provide relief to the rain affected people.
