India presented a decent start on Day 5 of the Asian Games 2026 with two medals won in the opening events of the Asian Games via wushu and rowing. Naorem Roshibina Devi won the silver medal in wushu women’s 60kg category and Satnam Singh and Salman Khan the bronze in the men’s double sculls.

Roshibina squared off with China’s Xiaoyu Zhang in the finals and would find themselves with no claim to gold. It was her third.record continental medal at the Asian Games.

India Add Rowing Bronze

Satnam Singh and Salman Khan came up second as well late to help India secure another podium placement in the men’s singles sculls. The Indian contingent got a head start in winning medals on the fifth day of the competition with their bronze medal.

With several other events going on, the rowing outcome helped India clinch a medal, adding to its tally of medals won.

Shooting Team Misses Out On Medal

But the Indian team failed to make it to a medal in the men’s 10m air pistol team competition. Aakash Bhardwaj, Kamaljeet and Kedarling Balakrishna came in 4th scoring 1727 points together.

The three shooters from India also missed the individual final as their shows in the competition ended without a medal.

Meanwhile, junior world champion Anahat Singh will make her debut at the Asian Games. As competition heats up from track, field to courtroom, the squasher will get a lot of attention from Indian sporting events.

India will move further in winning medals on Day 5 as more events are yet to be clocked for this day.
