India Day 4 of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya has seen a historic day and some impressive Asian Games 2026 qualification performances in various games. Soft Tennis competed to the teams semi-finals to ensure India a Asian Games medal for the first time in the event history on securing the boys’ singles title from Jay Meena.
Jay Meena Creates History In Soft Tennis
With the good progress being made by Jay Meena in the men’s singles, India has guaranteed its first Asian Games medal in soft tennis. He is now to play in the semi-finals where he has a chance to advance in the contest.
Balraj Panwar was in the third heat of the rowing final, finishing third from that heat and fourth from final overall to make it to the final. Runners-up of the men’s double sculls second heat – Salman Khan and Satnam Singh – also went through to the finals.
Ashutosh Khullar and Virat Kaur will meet in Final B after securing 6th in the heat in the men’s pair category while Jaswinder Singh, Nitin Kumar’s team of doublets will play fourth in the group stage. India’s women’s four, comprising Gurbani Kaur, Aleena Anto, Tendenthoi Haobijam and Poonam, will play in Final B after finishing 6th in the heat.
India Advances In Canoe Sprint And Table Tennis
In the case of canoe sprint, India also made progress. Harshwardhan Shaktawat, Varinder Singh, L Naocha Singh Oinam and Arun Singh booked a berth in the final when they finished third in the Heat 1 of the men’s kayak four 500m.
Megha Pradeep was the fifth finisher in the women’s C1 200m heat and she went up to the semi-final.
Manush Shah and Diya Chitale became 3-0 winners of Sri Lanka’s Chanul Kulappuwawadu and Bimandee Swarna in the mixed doubles Round 2 of table tennis. Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade also made a progress after defeating Maldives duo Mohamed Ismail and Fathimath Ali.
Manu Bhaker, Mirabai Chanu Headline India’s Medal Hopes
The sport of shooting continues to be one of the prime interests in India. The women’s individual final in the 10m air pistol event is on its way later, while Manu Bhaker, Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh are competing at the 10m air pistol events. The women’s skeet section also has Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal from India.
Mirabai Chanu will shine in the final of the women’s 49kg event while the Indian men’s badminton team is set to play against China in the semi-finals. India will also take on Iran in women’s kabaddi.
With a 2-0 first set 15-7, India pulled out the second set 15-10 to secure a 2-0 mark in the first game of the men’s sepak takraw team regu Group B against the Philippines.
The Day 4 effort from India will go on as several qualification rounds and medal events are yet to be played in the Asian Games, with the maintaining of the country’s tally.
