On September 22, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, gave its approval to financial proposals worth over Rs 13,790 crore in various fields like irrigation, power generation, sports, judicial etc. The decisions aim to further the development of major schemes and infrastructure in the state.
One of the major approvals was Rs 262.63 crore for the continuation of Suthalia Irrigation Project in Rajgarh till 31 March 2031 from 01 April 2026. Project is planned for the creation of micro-irrigation potential in 40,000 hectares of land. The Cabinet also approved a grant of Rs 4,197.58 crore for promoter continuation of Javad-Nimach Pressurised Micro Irrigation Project for five years in Neemuch. The scheme is designed to enhance the water use efficiency, optimise water and value of agricultural production.
Additional funds of Rs 507.23 crore were approved for the same five years for the project of water supply to Parvati-Rinsi Irrigation Project in Rajgarh. The project is projected to irrigate more than 48,000 hectares using dams.
The Cabinet also gave its approval to Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd to sign MoU for sourcing 2,800 MW thermal power from a competitive bidding process on the back of the bidding documents produced by the Ministry of Power for DBFOO. The cancellation of the previous tender is reflected in the latest 2800 MW tender, where approval for procurement of 900 MW was added.
In sports, the Cabinet took a “yes” decision on a proposal for establishment and operation of sports complexes in 140 Assembly constituencies for Rs 962.50cr. The complexes will be dubbed the Chief Minister Sport Complexes with permanent helipads to be built.
The government also gave permission to continue the Gram Nyayalaya scheme for the remaining three years from 2026-27 till 2030-31 in the cost of Rs 554.61 crore. Working on a new initiative, the legal setup comprising of the Madhya Pradesh Legal Aid and Legal Advice Board, another new scheme by them has sanctioned a budget of Rs 524 crore, and another scheme of establishing family courts, sanctioned a fund of Rs 1,000 crore in the 16th Finance Commission period.
