Important work pertaining to the branches is to be done in advance on September 28-30, 2026, customers of the State Bank of India (SBI) have been counseled to finish up the necessary banking activity. The strike is part of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) campaign, which could impact bank branches throughout the nation as it moves into new form of protest.
SBI stated that it is making arrangements to continue its essential banking operations during the strike. Depending on the involvement of each employees in their respective branches, however, some branch operations can be impacted. Alternatively, customers are promoted to transact with their banks through other avenues as much as they can.
Bank Strike Dates And Possible Impact
The UFBU has issued a request calling for a three day strike on September 28, 29 and 30. Because September 26 is a Saturday and 27 is a Sunday, customers just might not get “physical” bank access for five consecutive days. The strike also occurs at a half-yearly bank closure which makes advanced planning more important for customers and businesses who do business from banks.
The September action comes on the heels of the UFBU’s strike for the entire country on September 11. The union also said a possible indefinite strike would be called on October 26 if the union’s demands aren’t met. Some of the points unions have raised are the “five day banking week” and the concerns regarding the performance linked incentive scheme.
SBI Advises Customers To Use Digital Banking
To minimise the inconvenience to customers, SBI has requested that they complete the necessary transactions from the branches before the strike date. ATM’s, Auto Deposit and Auto Withdraw Machines (ADWMs) will be open to the people for facilitating eligible banking services while Customer Service Points (CSPs) will deliver select banking services.
It is also anticipated that digital channels will still be able to be used for normal transactions. Customers can transact funds, do payments, and manage everyday banking needs through the internet banking, mobile banking and YONO platform, and through UPI without having to make any branch visits.
SBI has said it is taking measures to ensure core operations continue, but how it will affect the smooth running of their branches will depend on staff participation at different branches. Therefore, customers who have work that needs to be done on or at particular branches are advised to finish such work before 28th September.
