The Congress will roll out its ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in all the 53 districts of the state after Rahul Gandhi met students from its Indore unit on Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari has said.
Vivek Patwari, addressing a press conference afterwards said that the issues being discussed by students during the encounter with Gandhi were being treated by the public as matters of importance. He appreciated the cooperation of the people of Indore, the media, Sikh community, Indore Development Authority (IDA), police and district administration in organizing the programme.
He has said the exercise will not end after Indore and it would be replicated throughout Madhya Pradesh. The purpose was not to defame anyone, but to raise concerns from the students’ and the education sector perspective around the issues, he said.
In relation to education, the Congress state president said that the government has a responsibility to provide students with cheap, quality education and opportunities that will give students the power. He also urged increased focus on employment and job creation related issues of young people.
Jitu Patwari lashed out at the statements made by BJP leaders after the event in Indore and called on the ruling party to pay attention to the issues, not the individuals. He spoke about the rest of the tenure of the existing state government and reiterated the claims of Congress that it will form the government in 2028. These comments are Patwari’s political stance.
Likewise, Patwari referred to China as an example, when demanding responses from the government regarding jobs and employment data. He stated that more should be done to create jobs, and increase the quality of education to young people.
During ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Indore students issues such as education, job, jobs not coming, examination related issues, etc. of the youth were the discussion highlights.
The Congress will also be holding discussions on these issues at the district level and the programme of Indore will be extended as a state-wide programme, Patwari added.
