Four including three minors and one adult have been arrested for allegedly gangraping and stabbing a teen to death in Outer North Delhi, police said.
A decomposed body of the girl 16 years who had as per investigation gone to meet her friend was found in the fields on the intervening night of September 12-13. According to the police the incident took place on September 10th.
The body recovered from Swaroop Nagar was sent to post mortem which revealed 6-8 stab wounds. Two knives allegedly linked to the crime were also recovered from the spot.
Preliminary probe reveales the 19 year old allegedly assaulted her for a while before calling his friends as she threatened to file a complaint. Later the group sexually assaulted her together, stabbed her to death and throw her disfigured body into the fields.
The police said the girl a drop out from school was looking for employment to support her family financially.
Pressing the reporters, a police officer said, “They were all under the influence of alcohol. We have already taken their blood samples. After they committed rape, they took her to a field and stabbed her more than six times early on September 11. They tried to hide the body under leaves and mud. They later fled in the tempo.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North district) Shobhit Saksena has said that the probe will focus on determining the precise role of each person apprehended, examining forensic and technical evidence, reconstructing the sequence of events and checking whether anyone else was involved.
“The recovered exhibits have been preserved for forensic examination and necessary legal action will be taken accordingly,” Saksena note.
The arrests was sought after a team led by Additional DCP (Outer North) Lokeshwaran R and ACP Ravinder Ahlawat questioned residents in the area and found that no local had reported seeing the girl on Saturday night or Sunday. Investigators examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras and noticed a tempo travelling close to the field around the suspected time of the crime.
The footage later helped them trace the boys and gather information about their alleged routes leading to their arrest.
