Rajasthan Municipal Electio 2026: BJP wins Kota, Udaipur and Udaipur ; Congress secured Ajmer, Bikaner

The Congress won 37 wards, while the BJP secured 32, according to the latest data released by the Rajasthan State Election Commission.

In Bikaner, Congress is leading with 40 seats out of 80, while the BJP lags with 27 seats. The BJP, meanwhile, has secured control of Kota, Jaipur and Udaipur, according to the latest trends.

In Udaipur, BJP’s Sanjay Sharma secured victory, with the party winning 53 of the 80 wards, while the Congress secured 23 wards.

The Kota Nagar Nigam was also taken over by the BJP, with Jyoti Prakash Meena securing 1,479 votes.

In Alwar Nagar Nigam, the BJP is leading with 28 seats, while the Congress is ahead with 23 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has won one seat. The Alwar Nagar Nigam has a total of 65 seats.

In Sri Ganganagar, the BJP is leading in 30 of the 65 wards, while the Congress is ahead in 17. Independent candidates are leading in 18 wards, according to the latest State Election Commission data.

Elsewhere, in Jaisalmer, the BJP is leading with 25 wards, while the Congress stands at 16.

The CPI(M) is set to form the board in Nokha Nagar Palika after winning 29 of the 45 wards. The BJP secured 13 wards, while independents won three. The result comes as a boost for the Left party, which has positioned itself as an alternative to the BJP in the absence of a strong Congress presence in the municipality.

Counting began on Monday for nearly 10,245 council posts across 309 urban local bodies in Rajasthan. The elections were held in two phases on September 9 and 11, with voter turnout recorded at 76.42% in the first phase and 70.68% in the second.

Jaipur had last held municipal corporation elections in 2020, when the Congress and BJP won one corporation each. The polls covered 250 wards across the Heritage and Greater corporations, with an average voter turnout of 57.5%.
