Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have reunited on screen after 18 years with Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan, which released in theatres today and has already started generating strong reactions online.
Notably, the performances by the two protagonists of the psychological thriller have captured the audience’s attention. One of the most interesting aspects about the film has been Akshay Kumar’s stereotype turn as the antagonist, which viewers seem to really appreciate for its darker tones and psychological onus.
One social media fan said Akshay made the movie an ‘epic moment,’ enjoying the opening of the movie and the climax in particular. The cinematography, the background score, and the emotional touch on the character of Saif Ali Khan were also highlighted as assets of the film by the viewers.
This screen play also has been praised for picking up in the second half, particularly in the cat-and-mouse games of the main characters. A few people have made parallels between the plot of the movie with the psychological thriller Cape Fear, and the surprise ending is also credited and the cameo.
While another viewer described Haiwaan as a “Gripping psychological thriller, great acting and performance by Akshay and Saif,” yet another viewer stated that “the ill thoughts kept haunting me throughout the movie”. The viewer also lauded the film for its attractive look and the “appropriate” music and composition for its background especially the second half of the film which Jenison Priyadarshan managed to keep taut.
Both Akshay and Saif were reunited with each other which gives an additional interest to the movie as they appeared last; 18 years back. The roles played by Akshay (villain) and Saif (emotional lead) do not have the same essence as their previous films.
Some initial feedback indicates that the performances, technical presentation and the second half tension are the part that the audience is most enjoying.
