The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences is set to issue the provisional answer key for NEET PG 2026 for the first time. Candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to download the answer key from the official website of the board, nbe.edu.in.
As per the bulletin released by NBEMS, the question ID numbers, the correct answer key to the questions and response sheets will be provided to candidates through their applicant login. The scores allotted for each question will also be mentioned therein. The decision comes in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, which directed the medical board to make raw scores, answer keys and normalisation details publicly available to ensure transparency.
NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30th for 2,65,980 candidates at 1,111 examination centers across 338 cities. Of these, 2,63,535 candidates appeared the examination, while the re-examination for 2,445 candidates in Jaipur was successfully conducted on September 5th.
It is must be noted that the final answer key is different from the provisional answer key. It reflects the answers which are used for the final evaluation of the examination. The PG result will also include candidates’ qualifying status and applicable cutoff.
How to check the NEET PG 2026 answer key?
Here are the steps:
- Visit the official website of NBEMS, nbe.edu.in, after the answer key notice is released.
- Click on the link for the NEET PG 2026 answer key.
- Log in using your registration ID and password.
- Download the NEET PG answer key in PDF format along with the response sheet.
- Open the answer key and response sheet displayed on the screen and save both documents.
- Compare your responses with the answers provided in the official answer key.
- Calculate your estimated score based on the correct and incorrect responses.
However, this will not be the final score. It definitely gives you a clear idea of how your exam went.
For every correct answer, four marks will be added to your total, while each wrong answer will deduct one mark. With 180 MCQs in total, every response matters. There will be no negative marking for unanswered questions.
Besides checking their answers, the students can also challenge the answer key by carefully reviewing the answers and raising objections if any. The board would also issue a public notice explaining the duration of the objection window.
