Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has revealed that the franchise is in no hurry to appoint a replacement for Stephen Fleming, who stepped down as head coach after a decade at the helm.
CSK also had Fleming in their ranks since the first season of IPL has started and after he was appointed as head coach in 2009. The New Zealand great matched one of the most fruitful and consistent combinations in the history of magnific café cricket in the subsequent 17 years.
They parted ways in July after becoming friends due to an enduring collaboration which resulted in several memorable campaigns. Now the franchise are likely to seriously consider their options in finding Fleming’s replacement.
Gaikwad came out with a statement that management are in the process of mulling over some options, but he said there was no need to rush the process as they have ample time before the next season of IPL and mini-auction.
Managers obviously thinking of a head coach we will have. Ruturaj Gaikwad told the reporters that there’s still time left till the IPL and one doesn’t need to rush to make a decision.
CSK got involved in a struggling IPL 2026 campaign as they are stuck at the bottom of the table with six wins in 14 games so far. Now the franchise will be focusing on the smart moves to make ahead of a 2027 season.
