Sources indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in Delhi on 5th September, which is the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The planned visit heightens its importance just as the esteemed institute is poised to cross a milestone of its 100-year independence.

As part of the visit PM Modi is set to attend the centenary festivities of SRCC and interact with the students. His direct engagement with Generation Z students will also be a major highlight, giving them a chance of sharing their hopes and dreams, concerns, and perspectives with the PM.

The ballet engagement is part of the BJP’s campaign to build the allegiance of India’s youth to the party. The party has recently also formed a team explicitly responsible for outreach to the millennial generation (or Gen Z) comprising young leaders and experienced individuals to gain insight into the aspirations of young Indians.

The project – as cited by sources – aims at direct engagement, dialogue and participation instead of just political programmes being the channel of communication.

PM Modi’s proposed interaction at SRCC is thus being seen as part of this outreach programme. Depending on their conversations with students, topics related to education, employment, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation and India’s future could be discussed.

If the visit is to be as planned, it’s very likely that the PM will have an immediate platform to interact with young Indians and the visit is going to become a significant milestone for the college’s history.
