A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Saudi Arabia’s Dammam made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport on Monday following a bomb threat.
According to officials, the flight, carrying 32 passengers, landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, and all passengers were deboarded.
Interacting with the media, Assistant Commissioner of Police, G Division, V.N. Yadav said the pilots decided to divert the Delhi-bound aircraft to Ahmedabad after discovering the threat message.
“The aircraft made an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad International Airport at around 4:30 pm after a crew member found a tissue paper having the text ‘bomb’ written on it,” said the ACP.
Security and emergency forces were immediately deployed to thoroughly check the aircraft, but found nothing suspicious, he added.
All the 32 passengers are currently accommodated at Terminal 2 of the Ahmedabad airport, stated the police officer, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
