Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are the two big concerns in India’s strong line-up for the upcoming limited-overs series against Afghanistan and West Indies, as their availability has not yet been confirmed.
As per reports, the two haven’t been confirmed to return to competitive cricket at this moment. Both of them are at BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Bengaluru to get rehabilitated with other injured members of the Indian squad.
Pandya’s recovery process has been tough since he had previously suffered from occasional back spasms during the IPL 2026 tournament and missed out on some matches. The all-rounder was also reportedly losing precious time in his forthcoming rehab process with the CoE after developing an “injury to the quadriceps”, leading to his further stint of downtime.
Since August, Pandya had continued to follow his return-to-play journey but had been thrown off on his minor calf injury. As an all-round pace-bowler, he is set to create a big vacuum for the Indians going ahead with the team for limited-overs cricket.
Bumrah availability means a great deal to India, especially because the team is keen on keeping his workload in check after the injury and right now, he has been in a rehab phase. The fast bowler will continue to be a key player in the India bowling attack both in sidespin and ODI cricket.
The uncertainty about two of India’s most important players in the mix could make the selectors and the team management think along another line for the upcoming Afghanistan and West Indies duty.
India will be banking on both players having a good turnaround at CoE in the coming weeks. But as there is no definite return date, their presence for the upcoming limited-overs encompassing is an issue of major concern.
