On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tashkent for a two-day visit in the presence of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This helps in deepening the strategic partnership between the Indian and Uzbekistan and its cooperation in various key areas.
The discussion on the bilateral relations will take place at the Presidential Palace and PM Modi and President Mirziyoyev will go through entire range of the bilateral relations, the Ministry of External Affairs said. The discussions are likely to include items on trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties.
The two leaders will also exchange their ideas and experiences towards achievement of their development vision, Uzbekistan 2030 and Viksit Bharat 2047. It is hoped that the talks will discuss further the traditional cultural and civilisational ties between the two countries.
PM Modi would also be paying a visit to the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies during his visit to Tashkent. It is hoped that these visits will emphasize the historical and the people-to-people linkages between India and the Uzbekistan.
PM Modi to attend the Summit of SCO in Bishkek.
PM Modi is holding a two-nation visit, the first stop of which has been in Uzbekistan. He will thereafter go to Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, which is scheduled for 31st-1st August 2026.
The top line-up will focus on India’s priorities at the summit: Security, Connectivity and Opportunity, which Modi is expected to mention. He will also have talks with other leaders from SCO, hold bilateral talks, and attended the opening ceremony of 6th World Nomad Games, which hosts the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
