Qatar’s prime minister arrived in Tehran on Thursday to hold talks with Iranian officials on de-escalation, following visits by Pakistan’s army chief and Oman’s foreign minister.
Iran and Oman have agreed on their share of the Strait of Hormuz and its revenues, a local agency reported, citing the Revolutionary Guards spokesperson. The spokesperson claimed the US was obstructing negotiations between Iran and Iran, leading to a delay in the agreement.
An unknown projectile struck a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire that was later doused, an international news agency reported, citing the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency. All the crew members were reported safe and accounted for. No environmental impact was also reported.
Elsewhere in Lebanon, Israeli war jets launched two waves of morning air attacks targeting the Ali al-Taher Hill on the eastern outskirts of Upper Nabatieh in southern Lebanon as per media reports. The area reportedly, experienced a series of massive concussion missiles that caused powerful explosions echoing across the region, sending up heavy columns of smoke.
A Syrian state media agency reported, that Israeli forces have advanced into the village of Taranja in the northern countryside of Quneitra.The troops carried out a raid and search operation in one of the houses before withdrawing from the area, it added.
Earlier in a press interaction, US President Trump that economic warfare and military strikes are both effective against Iran and that he is “not in a hurry” regarding negotiations because he has “no time schedule”. He
claimed the financial strength of the US will move the country “toward a very big victory” over Iran. When asked about the prospects of winning the war, Trump said, “Our financial strength is unbelievable, and those things are going toward a very big victory.”
His statement came as the US Treasury Department this week announced a campaign to tighten sanctions against Iran, threatening economic consequences against countries that refuse to cut ties with Iran.
