In Delhi on Wednesday, a gas tank of a truck exploded at a CNG station, sparking off a major emergency response in Tikri Kalan, which resulted in the loss of life of one of the operators and injuries to six others. Call was received at 3.37pm when the incident was reported, Delhi Fire Service said. As soon as the explosion was reported fire service personnel were immediately deployed to the site.

Six individuals were standing near the truck and were hurt when the truck’s gas tank exploded, a fire service officer said. They have been rushed to a hospital for treatment and medical attention is being given to them. One was said to be feared dead in the incident though further details of someone who might have died were expected.

There is no known cause of the explosion. Investigation has been started to find out what caused the explosion and if there was anything related to safety that was a factor in the blast.

Shortly after the explosion, fire service personnel arrived on scene, with some taking appropriate precautions at the site of the CNG station. The situation is being brought under control to ensure that there will be no further risk at the plant.
