After beaming back with great expectations, Awarapan 2, featuring Emraan Hashmi, has shown promising film performance at the box-office since its Friday release.
The sequel was such a successful grosser and saw an impressive first day collection of Rs 22 crore in India, beating the cumulative collections of its predecessor in a single day. The movie continued to make good moves on Saturday as it managed to pull in another Rs 33.75 crore net profit at the domestic box office.
Taking the day’s earnings into account, Awarapan 2’s total domestic net collection has crossed Rs 55.75-crore mark and its domestic gross collection reached the ₹66.90-crore mark on the second day. So far the film has grossed Rs 72.90 crore worldwide.
The movie played in 10,496 screens, with 59.94% of theaters full.
Delhi-NCR proved to be one of the best markets, with 1051 shows yielding 68.3% occupancy. Mumbai was the second largest city with 814 shows and 54.5% allocation.
The production is averaging fairly positive sends from the box-office but seems to have garnered more muted praise from the critics. The sequel has for now at least caught and kept the momentum from the first film, with plenty of audience interest.
Emraan Hashmi makes a fitting comeback in Shivam Pandit’s role from the original movie. Along with them there is Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 has been produced by Vishesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner.
The film has already grossed Rs 55.75 crore in India over the first two days and is set to make a big first weekend which could be really the turning point of how much it can gross.
