Madhya Pradesh tightens online attendance rules for teachers, relief for 70,000 guest teachers
Two major things are underway for teachers in Madhya Pradesh: to ensure that their attendance in schools is taken online, the School Education Department has been working on more stringent directions for regular teachers, and to tackle pending issues of guest teachers joining duty and pending pay mentioned for around 70,000 guest teachers in Madhya Pradesh.
The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has been thinking about shortening the time that teachers have to attend and log into a course online as a requirement. In the current scheme, teachers must log in e-learning at 9.30 am and 10.45 am. After 10 45 am the attendance is not valid.
Reports say the DoPI had a review meeting recently with directions to fill in the rules of the online attendance system more tightly. The department is now working to change the deadline for teachers to report on-line attendance to 10 a.m.
Support to 70,000 Guest Teachers
Concurrently, DPI has begun work to address technical problems impacting guest teachers assigned to out-of-the-way areas where there are limited network capabilities.
Rejoining of many guest teachers has reportedly been delayed as a result of the absence of any network facilities in a number of schools. In other cases, their honoraria have been held in abeyance.
Educational officers of all the districts have been contacted by the DPI to provide specific details on schools in Network deficient areas. The department would like to have information about which schools have been impacted and about the pending honorarium payments for the guest teachers who teach in these schools.
Authorities will leverage the data to determine which issues need to be addressed technically and/or administratorially to re-enlist and to enable payment.
At present, about 70,000 guest teachers are employed in Madhya Pradesh; where they will find relief in the requirements of the programme.
The state education department in the latest move is hoping to enhance teacher attendance monitoring and is looking to solve some administrative and technical issues with guest teachers.
