Food Safety Department led raids and took action against a food establishment at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh after checking the quality of the desi ghee sold in the area.
A group of officials of the food safety department made an inspection of the Dolly Aromatic Establishment at the Industrial Area, and took samples of Brajwasi desi ghee for testing. Government officials took 153 litres of ghee during the inspection.
The department was performing tests to see if the ghee sold in the market meets food safety standards,” Food Safety Officer Radheshyam Gole said. Samples were taken during the inspection with the available stocks being seized.
The seized ghee is estimated to be worth around Rs 76,500. These samples will then be sent to a lab where they will be tested in detail.
The grade and quality details of the product would be known only after receiving the laboratory report,” officials said. Further action will be taken if the samples are determined to be in violation of food safety standards, in accordance with the relevant rules.
The Food Safety Department also informed that ongoing inventory and sampling drives are being undertaken in the district to check the quality and safety of the food products offered to the limit.
